Time To Make Rockets Boom

In Te Ngahere we have started to create bottle rockets for our wonder project. I like making rockets because in the end your group get to make them go as high as they can. I thought that my group helped a lot with making the rocket I think that they did a great job. I thought that I did a great job to because I did the cutting. I had to cut the top of the coke bottle off to make the bottom of the rocket. Our next step is to put the fins on and then test the rocket. I really enjoy making bottle rockets. This is my rocket here so far.

Interesting Wonder Project

In Te Ngahere some people named Troy and Gestarvo came in so that we could learn about how rockets work. we have been learning about the Wonder Project. The Wonder Project is a rocket project, we were learning to build our own miniature rockets. For the first week we had to pick two career roles and write what we need to know to get the job. The two career roles I choose were designer and an engineer. Have you done the Wonder Project before?

Sharing My Maths Eyes

Sharing my knowledge on my maths eyes
WALT identify maths in the world around us.
What I noticed with my maths eyes on the gingerbread men was that they had different shades of skin tone on the gingerbread men. They also had different face styles and different hair styles. I also seen 3 rows with 4 gingerbread men and 4 row and 3 gingerbread men in. What can you learn from this? I can learn how to use my maths eyes. What did you try hard at today? I tried hard at trying to use my maths eyes on the gingerbread people. What do you see in this picture?

Technology

Last Wednesday all year 7 & 8’s went to Technology in Morewa. At Technology we were creating pewter jewelry. Pewter Jewelry is jewelry that you make with metal. You have to melt the metal on a hot flame in the pan. You then have to pour it between some wood to make the shape you are looking for. Put a hole through, tie a string through and knot it together. Then you are finished you are looking cool.

Technology

On Wednesday we went to technology at Moerewa School.
Technology is where us year 7 & 8’s go to do things like
woodwork and baking. Woodwork is where you go to learn about
how to use power tools and hand tools and you get to build things
out of wood. Baking is the class opposite woodwork and that is
where you got to learn how to bake things like cakes, cupcakes
and other things. At tech I created a necklace that looked like
maui’s hook but smaller. I can’t wait to go back to have more fun.

Walk in the Bush

In Te Ngahere we have been trying to design our class to make it look like the bush so we went for a walk into the bush to get ideas for our class room. Once we got to the bush we had to scrub our shoes with the scupper so that we didn't bring any germs in to the bush that will kill all the plants and trees. In the bush we saw a lot of things like a river, trees, leaves, logs we even saw a tree growing on another tree so that we could get ideas for in class. We came back and started talking about it. I really wanted to go back into the bush to find more cool things.

Rippa Rugby

On Thursday me and a few other kids went to a rippa rugby tournament in whangarei. In my team was Jahrell, Mikaire, Iyanda, Jade, Angela, Breeze, Ana, Ondreous and Pharell. Just before we left to go to the tournament we had to put on our t-shirts and sit down in front of Te Awa just to see if everyone is here. When we had our first game we won the first three games and then lost. On our last game it was a draw then we were in the semi finals. Just before the game started we got pulled off the field because the ref told us that we weren't in the Semi Finals because we won the tournament in Kaikohe. So we had to go back to school. When we were back at school there was only a few minutes until the bell rang. So we had to read a book. Bye.

Science Fair

At Paihia School in Te Ngahere we have been creating a science fair board for our science fair day on Friday. We have been learning the scientific method the scientific method is what you use in your science fair plan. Me and my groups science fair project was about hand sanitizers and soaps (what is the best hand sanitizer/ soap and water) I enjoyed doing this science project because it was really fun and because I didn’t have to come up with the idea the teachers did. The challenging thing about my science fair project was writing the scientific method down. On day one our bread came out clean but one the one with the sneeze on it that one turned out with a lot of mould on it.
