Interesting Basic Fact, Spelling and Division

In Te Ngahere we have been doing basic facts, division and spelling. In the past few weeks I have learnt my basic facts and division now I need to do 13 more spelling words and i’m done spelling. It is easier to do division when you know all of your basic facts. I thought that I did really good on my basic facts. I also thought that my buddy Rymon did really well because he is a good teacher for me. Do you know all of your spelling, division and basic facts ?

My interesting Math Whizz

In Te Ngahere we have been doing Maths Whizz every week. I have been doing Maths Whizz really well lately. Three weeks ago I got to 12 progressions and one week after that I got zero progressions and on the third week I got four progressions. I am still working on this weeks progressions. Do you do Maths Whizz? Comment what your name is and we can be friends and have challenges. A progression is a level up and it shows that on a diamond shard. In Maths Whizz you have to answer maths questions. If you get 3 or 4 progression every week you go up a rank. A rank is a level up when you are level one to level 2 and it keeps going up.

Maths Eyes Out And About

Today in Te Ngahere we have been using our maths eyes around the school. Our class had to be split into groups of three my group was Mark.S and Warren. Our task was to find as much things using our maths eyes my group and I found seven things using our maths eyes. What we found: 38 rectangles on the court 49 circles on the court 42 triangle on the goal post 28 blue poles on the big playground 38 gray poles on the big playground 40 chains on the big playground And 29 green pole on the big playground I think that my group did well because they helped me count how much poles and chains and they thought of the idea of counting the poles and chains. I think that I could do better by helping and finding more ideas for our hunt/ for our maths eyes. I hopw that you enjoyed my blog post.

Math Problem Solving

In Te Maunga each week we do for maths, problem solving. The teacher put us into groups of threes, the groups that we are in is the groups we do math with. In my group is Vaughan and Aj. Vaughan is the expert in our group. We have been learning wingspan, wingspan is how long your reach is. When you measure your wingspan you have to measure it from the longest finger to the longest finger.

Math Goals

At the start of term two we made some new math goals. My hardest goals were Reading decimals to 3dp. We had to pick the goals we did not achieved last term and put them in our math goals. When we finished the math goals we showed the teacher and she printed it when the teacher printed it we put a large piece of paper under the math goals and stuck the math goals on then we put it on the wall.

Fractions Wall

W.A.L.T. to make a fractions wall. First we had to cut twelve pieces of paper the same length.  First we glued one whole strip, then we folded another strip in 1/2 before cutting it in half and gluing it on our wall. We repeated this process in 1/3, 1/4, 1/5, 1/6, 1/7, 1/8, 1/9, 1/10, 1/12ths. We saw patterns when we cut 1/2, 1/4, 1/8, and 1/12. We saw another pattern when we cut 1/3, 1/6 and  1/9.  We saw another pattern with 1/5 and 1/10.
